October 2022 Meeting

Norfolk & Suffolk Narrow Gauge Modellers

Twelve members gathered for our October meeting on the 1st of the month and thanks go to Richard Doe for the photographs provided below:-

Geoff G was giving his O-16.5 2-4-2 tank loco a run on the test track. The Irish 3ft gauge-inspired loco is – as usual for Geoff – radio controlled, and running with a scratch built coach.
Richard was test running a Westside Models HOn3 Shay.
Nigel was displaying this O-16.5 2-6-2 tank loco and some scratch built goods vehicles.
Ray brought along his 009 layout “Lysander Farm” which is nearing completion.
A closer image of the station and yard area, just final scenic details to add.
David C has printed some 009 wagon chassis and box van bodies. He was constructing and painting some of them.
Two “works in progress” displayed by Richard, – a Bachmann “Peter Sam” is in the process of being turned into a freelance loco for his “Beccles & Bungay Railway”, and also a David Churchyard 08 Diesel 3D print is being detailed and painted for a Scottish narrow gauge project.

Work tables:-

Chris was using part of a Heljan station front and scratch building the rest of a small station building for a 009 project.
Neville started constructing an HO Grandt Line building kit of the Texaco oil depot warehouse based at Placerville.
Bill was converting some OO Tri-Ang track to 1:16 scale, representing 10 1/4″ gauge by removing sleepers then adding larger wooden sleepers and also painting the track.
Geoff B was continuing planning and working on his rapid prototype for his proposed Challenge layout. Using foamboard and card, ideas can be tweaked before construction commences.
Nigel did some scratch-building work on these bogie hopper wagons in O-16.5. The bodies are are made from tin so realistic dents and wear can be added.
Mike made a start on building some 009 slate wagons.
John (and also Ray) were making up some 009 Greenwich Couplings and fitting them to stock.

    1. Thank you very much for your kind comment. We are only a small Group of 12 – 15 members, but there are some brilliant scratch-builders amongst them, some very innovative, – and therefore some projects seem to take a while to complete…..And hopefully we will have more layouts soon!

I’m Ejvind, I’m also 89 years old, but luckily I can still use my fingers and head, Thank you for answering so nicely, I’ll follow you because I think I can learn a lot from you, I’m in the process of recording a slightly bigger 3 meter round track that must be used throughout the months of the year.       2. Hallo Ejvind….I am an 88 year old member of the Norfolk and Suffolk Narrow gauge Modellers. I did not turn up at the last meeting because I had a nasty bout of the flu. I do not get to all the meetings, haveing to travel quite a way .. I do exhibit my track, which is Hubbards Halt, now and again, and it has been featured in the 009 News, three or four times. At the moment I am developing a village scene with a railway running through. Its progressing…….all the best. Hope your layout works…jim bamber. jim76bam@gmail.com

Have been doing this about eight years now and it keeps my brain in gear.!!!!! Mt layour is called Hubbards Halt and it has been picrured in rhe 009 News a few times.
