July 2025 Meeting

Norfolk & Suffolk Narrow Gauge Modellers

Our Group met on July 5th. Over the last month we have held a vote for the “2026 Group Challenge” and after votes were counted the choice was: “Build a scenic diorama / photo plank.  To include building(s) such as a loco shed, small halt, crossing with gate keepers cottage etc. Max size 3’x 1′.”

Inspired by the Ffestiniog 200 Wheels on the Cob event we loaded our test track board with locos & tenders and managed to display up to 324 wheels using many scales within the Group. Three photos below:

Alan C was displaying a recently finished 3D printed Lynton & Barnstable railway crane.
Ray has built a 7mm water tank with a scratch built base, a rebuilt tank.
He’s also scratch built two tunnel mouths (below).

Work Tables:

Bill was working in a 1:16 brake van.
Doors were being furnished with hinges made from card with pva rivet detail added.
Richard was building a couple of the 009 Society single bolster wagon kits.
Chris was scratch building a 7mm lamp hut and a small station building. Both from Wills sheet plasticard (two photos).
Neville made a station sign for his Chipeta layout using separate plastic letters stuck
Onto a plastic backing. He started painting some Brooks 3D Models HO firemen and continued working on a Highway Miniatures 1923 Ford Model T truck.
Stuart was kit bashing a 009 Dundas VOR long bogie coach into two small freelance bogie coaches/observation saloon.
Clive started a 1:43 Alphagraphix card kit of a Clougher Valley railway ‘The Unit’ rail truck.
Geoff was working on some 7mm buildings. Stone walls were having window and door apertures cut out.
Alan was fitting NEM coupler sockets to O.16.5 wagons for magnetic couplings to be fitted to.
Kadee couplers will be used on outer ends of rakes.
He was also painting some air pipes.
Mike was working on a HOe faller station and goods building.
George was assembling and adding brass etched footsteps to a Liliput Zillertalbahn Post Van.
Garden Railway Specialists 16mm SM32 Kerr Stuart 0-4-2 Saddle tank under construction by Andy.
A RTR chassis with 3D printed body plus separate detailing parts.
John was working on some 16mm lamp posts. 3D printed parts with brass tubing and LED lighting.
David was assembling a Norfolk Heath Works baseboard kit plus other parts.
