Norfolk & Suffolk Narrow Gauge Modellers

We had seventeen members attend our 1st February meeting in Barsham with lots of models under construction. With thanks to Richard for providing photos and text.

Geoff G brought along a O.16.5 work train.
The wagons have scratch built bodies on OO RTR wagon chassis.
The loco is a scratch built freelance 0-4-4T with the body made from brass and it runs on a modified Smokey Joe chassis which has had valve gear added.
The brake van is kit built from a Smallbrook Studio Kit.
Stewart was working on a 4mm Alphagraphix generic Southwold/Hemyock station building. It is being converted from the Wenhaston station building to the Blythburgh station building.
Ray has built 3 Floyd Kraemer open wagons (above), and also scratch built a selection of wagons (below) using plasticard and running on David Churchyard models wagon chassis.
Ray has now finished the coaches that were built mainly using Wills taxi Men’s Huts and are complete with lettering.
Above and below: John brought along his 009 Wharf Lane layout which is having more DCC wiring progress and electronics for the computer controlled traverser and lighting etc.

Work Tables:-

Alan is building a 16mm/SM32 vertical boiler loco for the group challenge. He’s making the motorised chassis mainly from plasticard with a commercial motor and gearbox.
He’s also been making progress on an American Battery mine loco.
David was working on his 009 layout ‘Ironbridge’.
He was working on the DCC system with a DIY unit and a wireless app on the phone.
Chris was working on his 7mm O9 group challenge loco. He’s also scratch built this 7mm loco shed from Wills sheet and plasticard.
Stuart scrapped most of last years challenge layout but Barry had part of it. Stuart has kept a piece for either a small diorama/layout or a photo plank.
Richard D bought a steam lorry kit from Barry.
Due to a lack of instructions the parts were laid out to try and figure the assembly positions.
Neville was working on his 3.5mm HO silver ore mine kit, making some changes to allow it to fit onto the layout.
Malcolm was painting some 16mm Modelu figures.
George was converting a 009 Society RNAD flat wagon kit to a stake wagon for timber carrying.
Bill was starting a new 1:16 coach. Plans had been drawn up and wood planking cut and some has been stained prior to assembly.
Geoff B was constructing some of the new Peco O16.5 laser cut V skip wagon kits.
Nigel was working on his 16mm group challenge loco using various plasticard and plastic components.
Dave C was giving his 009 pier layout a test run. He has added a new ticket booth using a Bachmann Scenecraft model and buffer stops. He was also touching up paint on the handrails of the pier.
