December 2024 Meeting

Fourteen of us met at Barsham on 7th December, and the meeting had a Christmas flavour. Big thanks go to our organiser Richard Doe for another successful and interesting year running the Group, organising our exhibitions, keeping us informed, preparing the hall each month, fetching fish and chips, and for keeping us supplied…at his own cost…with tea, coffee and goodies.

Here are a few pictures from the day….

A special running model and track built by David for the Flatford Mill NT Tea Room, and christened “Santa’s Express-o” to enhance the tea rooms Christmas Fayre. The basis of the 16mm train are Houstoun Gate kits with a shortened 3D home-printed loco chassis and also 3D printed sleigh parts by David using Thingiverse.
A 1:43 Christmas diorama by Stuart. Strange happenings in the woods, where things have moved-on a little as “steam” has taken over propulsion of Santa’s sleigh. A certain redundant reindeer is being cooked on the spit (which revolves) and Col. Stephens and Robert Fairlie await cooked venison to eat in the log cabin (lit up).
An O9 Floyd Kraemer steam tram loco enhanced by lovely extra detailing by Ray.
Construction before painting of Richards HOn30 Toma Model Works Sandy River 2-6-0 loco.
Quite a lot of O9 was displayed this month, and this is one of Chris’s tractor locos, from a 1:43 1934 Super Landini die cast model.
A completed section of “Sainte Hilaire” H0 scale French town street by Stewart.
One of Graham’s new O9 models, a second-hand Orenstein & Koppel MV2 with compressor load and tool wagon.
Graham also tested another new Floyd-Kraemer O9 loco on his layout “Pye Rigg Works”.
Stewart worked on repairing the Marklin Z gauge chassis of this Nn3 “Southwold” model which ran well after repairs.
