Norfolk & Suffolk Narrow Gauge Modellers

The village hall was quite filled at our July meeting with 16 people including two new visitors, and our usual mix of members building layouts or testing layouts. Here are a few photos from the day.

Chris’s micro layout “Ashfield Road” in 009. It is 18″ long an features a battery-powered railcar on a small timed automatic controller.
“Ashfield Road” features typical Suffolk rural scenery and it matches his other layout “Ashfield Green” in many respects.

Richard has just purchased a Bachmann (391-050) 009 Dinorwic Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0 “Alice” loco and a Peco (GR-906) Purple Moose Brewery L&B Box Van.
Graham brought along his operating O9 scale diorama built in a drawer. Here is Ransomes-Rapier “Knucker” at the goods platform.
Saddle Tank tram loco “Drake” in the loco siding.
The whole layout of which the “baseboard” area is only 20″ x 4.5″. As yet, the layout is still un-named.
Geoff G displayed two wagons in O-16.5 scale. The open wagon is the latest, the body is scratch built using coffee stirrers and folded brass.

David was tweaking his 009 Challenge layout “Pointless Shunting” by adding loading platforms in the warehouses.
Stewart’s collection of cottages so far, for a proposed layout. He built the MKD HO scale Gatekeepers House on the right.

The track has been made to look more like 15″ light track by cutting sleepers from Peco 009 main line track.

Work Tables:-

Alan was building a Sidelines Classic “Effie” kit for his Gn15 layout.
The chassis is seen with a Smallbrook Studios “Katie” kit.
These Chivers Finelines On30 Ore Car kits were being built by Stuart.
It seems that Clive had bought a job lot of different Canadian HOn30 “Scotia Models” kits and was getting to grips with a Box Car.
A rake of five SM32 Peter Binnie quarry tipper wagons were being built by Malcolm.
After various plans didn’t work out Neville decided to build this HO scale 1923 Ford Model T Stake Truck by Highway Miniatures.
John brought along some home-printed Electrical Cabinets to finish off with transfers. They are servo motor covers for his 16mm garden railway, the “Alington Railway”.
Geoff B was shortening 422 Modelmaking 3-plank Dropside Wagons to fit on the shorter chassis that they produced.
