December 2016 Meeting

About ten members met at the St Johns Ambulance Hall in Beccles on 3rd December.

This was primarily a planning meeting for our Open Day Exhibition in March.  (March 4th  2017, 10am to 4pm).  It appeared that we had too many exhibits for the floor area, but after utilising a good-sized room that we had not used before, we managed to fit things in nicely, and the show should be our largest yet with 18 stands, which includes 13 layouts.

Several models were displayed at the meeting:

Above are some old O-16.5, 7mm scratch built wagons that Barry had built several years ago.  The glue had by now stained the plastic, but they still make good models.

Priory Waterworks 009

Chris was displaying his 009 shunting puzzle layout "Priory Waterworks" and has added many small details.

James brought along some O-16.5 scale locos built up from American Bachmann loco parts, along with some adapted and scratch built wagons.

By far the smallest layout displayed was this very collectable Hornby promotional miniature train set usually issued to toy shop owners as a charming novelty item.  Displayed by Barry.

Richard displayed the new Minitrains 009 Bagnall Wing Tank 0-4-0 loco which ran very well.

Bill displayed 1:16 scale models, one being his double skip wagon complete with built-in chutes.   All modelled with card.

New member Stuart brought along the baseboard for his new 009 layout, now with track laid.  The layout, on a 4ft x 2ft board will have a gently rising hillside with cottages and road over bridges.  Seen running is a new Fourdees Glyn Valley tram loco.

We look forward to seeing the layout develop.

This is new loco number 3, "Triton" being displayed with new four wheeled coaches outside "Longstone Maintenance Shed", in Gn15 scale by Graham.  The kit is a Smallbrook Studios "Pierott "Hunslet style loco.

Phillip displayed his 009 layout "Hawkins Tower" and ran this Minitrains Krauss 0-4-0 loco and skip wagons.
