February 2018 Meeting

We had a very good attendance at our all-day February meeting.  It was an "all-sorts" day, and members were working on models, tweeking or  running layouts, or, like me, just wandering around with a camera.  We had two "firsts" this time:  a Cuban  layout - with overhead catenary and palm trees, and we were playing narrow gauge DVD's and videos all day.   Two new faces also joined us.

Richard is converting Roco H0e stanchion wagons for timber haulage, seen here with an Airfix Drewry conversion running on a Life-Like chassis.  The loco was built by Mark Howe of the Beds & Bucks 009 Group, now sadly missed.

Richard also brought along some of his re-painted stock for his tin mine layout.

This Bachman 0n30 Baldwin 4-6-0 was displayed by Neville.

Chris brought along his 009 scale layout "Ashfield Green" to test.  "Lark", a Kerr Stuart "Skylark", is crossing the lane to deposit a van in the Corn Merchants siding.

Here "Lark" is at the head of a mixed train standing at the platform.  This view is taken from the fiddle-yard entrance, behind the engine shed.

"Ashfield Green" will be exhibited at the Dereham show on 24th February 2018.

Martin displayed some Gn15 scale scratch built stock.  The loco style is based on the Egger-Bahn H0e Contractors loco and runs on a Hornby 06 diesel shunter chassis.

These are "Norfolk Heath Works" 009 scale bogie wagon kits, displayed by Stuart and based on Welshpool & Llanfair stock.

Martin also displayed this Cuban inspired 15" gauge tramway in 7mm scale. The scratch built trams run on Kato 4-wheeled chassis.

The layout board has a town wall at the centre as a scenic break separating different areas of the system.

James brought along his 0-16.5 scale layout under construction.  The river beds at the front of the layout will be spanned by bridge sections.

Bill has been building more 1:16 scale wagons for the garden railway, he was also demonstrating his home-made magnetic couplings.

Jeremy has been modelling in 009 scale for over 6 months now, and he showed us his locomotive fleet so far.  Here is a Shapeways Clogher Valley Sharp Stewart 3d print, and a ready to run Roco H0e Henschell BR99 0-6-0.

His IC locos are a Teebee Models centre cab diesel running on a Kato 4w chassis and another 3d print running on a Tomytec chassis.

These are three new Sidelines kits that Graham has constructed for his Gn15 scale layout "Longstone" which will be exhibited for the first time at Dereham on 24th February.

Alan was displaying new Bachmann U.S. 0n30 models including a crane wagon.
