January 2018 Meeting

We had a "Modelling Day" meeting for January in Barsham Village Hall.  Most of the regulars attended with various bits of work to attend to.  Graham & Caroline brought their whole "Longstone" layout for a test run, and to position figures now it is nearing completion.

Seen at the meeting were one or two wagons "emerging" as part of our 2018 Challenge competition.

I didn't get a photo of everything at the meeting, but here is a good selection:-

The Work tables:

Stewart was constructing some Southwold Railway wagons using Golden Arrow bodies and 009 Society Flat Wagon chassis which will end up in 00n3 scale.

This Bachmann 0n30 Climax loco was bought by Neville with a few missing components ie: footboards etc.  He is replacing the missing items with parts acquired or by scratch building them.

Richard was seen converting Roco H0e bogie wagons for use as timber wagons on 009.

Also on Richard's table were some Meridian Models Quarry Fullersite Dropside wagons under construction also in 009 scale.

This is one of Stuart's laser cut module boards. Here he has 3d printed Horsey Wind Pump buildings, to be set in a riverside scene in 009 scale.

He was also displaying two H0e Jouef Decauville toast rack coaches received for Christmas.

Bill was working on some 1:16 scale items for approx 10.25inch gauge.  Items in this view are  flat wagons, construction of some unusual sleepers and track based on a photograph he had, and wire adaptors for tension lock couplings which will be magnetically un-coupled.

These Gn15 scale freelance diesel bodies are being constructed by Alan. On the left is the cardboard mock-up of the plasticard version to the right.

Also on Alan's table under construction is this Gn15 scale Armoured Simplex machine running on a Black Beetle chassis.

Other models displayed:

Photographed on the test track is Stewart's 2-4-0 Southwold Railway Sharpie "St. Edmunds" in 009 scale.

Bachmann 009 items displayed by Richard.  Skarloey Railway "Rheneas" 0-4-0 Dolgoch lookalike, and War Department bogie wagon in Beccles & Bungay Railway, as yet un-weathered livery.

Graham and Caroline brought along their Gn15 "Longstone" layout for a test run and to place and fix figures.  Two out of the three scenic sides can be seen here, the moorland scene "Fox Gill", and the Longstone village scene.

The third scene on "Longstone" is "Spring Head Mill".  Here, loco No. 2 "Jiro" shunts the sidings at the mill, while the lonely mill foreman waits at the halt for a passing passenger train.

Jim brought along a selection of 009 item, here is a 3D printed double cab loco on a Kato 4w chassis, and part of his 2018 Challenge entry, an old workmens pw wagon/store.
