September 2017 Meeting

Our September meeting was a bit thinly populated, both in models, and members, but that's the way it goes in the summertime.

Stuart had just been to Wales on his honeymoon and displayed several books on the Corris and Tallylyn Railways that he obtained while he was there visiting some NG railways.

Here are some photos of models displayed at the meeting:-

This layout, with a Southwold Railway style station building, was brought in by John who had it in storage for about 30 years!  and, with a bit of a clean-up it ran first time.  Built in O-16.5 scale, it is 4ft 4inches long, plus a single track fiddle yard extension and was built when he had limited space for a model railway.  The loco is a Glyn Valley Tramway Peco kit running on a Hornby 0-4-0 chassis.

Displayed by Richard was this early Fourdees 0-6-0 "Premier" model 009 loco now nicely painted and weathered in the Beccles & Bungay Railway black livery.

Graham brought in two ongoing projects from his Gn15 scale "Longstone" layout.

The trees (always a problem in this scale) are made from garden branch offcuts for the main tree trunk, Woodland Scenics 4mm Tree Armatures for "branches" and either painted plastic floristry leaf filler, or 4mm Woodland Scenics foliage and added "Polak" tree leaves for the foliage.

The building under construction is one part of the proposed woollen mill, mainly of foam board and embossed plastic card.

Bill was attempting to get a battery compartment in his 1:16 scale loco (the third of this type) wired correctly, while also showing completed fruit boxes and fuel cans for the layout, all made with card and strip wood.

This station building in 0-16.5 scale is an exterior model to be placed on Geoff's garden line now under construction.  It will be fillled with concrete to give the structure strength while under the trees out in the garden.
